What is a cucumber?

Cucumber is a creeping vine plant that is cultivated all over the world. The Cucurbitaceae Gorge family bears the cucumiform fruits (known as cucumbers), which are used as vegetables. There are three main varieties: slicing, pickling, or seedless/ burpless of which several cultivars have been created.

Cucumbers are very very easy to produce and takes little to no effort to plant, maintain and harvest.

Some cucumbers grow very long,

While some are very short 

Either way, they are all very juicy and filled with many vitamins and minerals

Gherkins or cornichons

Garden Cucumbers 

How do you grow a Cucumber? 

                                                    Well, that is easy, 

1) first you clear a patch of the garden ( or you can start in a small pot and transplant it)

2) Then you get some dried cucumber seeds ( you may dry the ones from the cucumber you buy at the market, or buy some at the farm and garden store)

3) Then you plant them, three seeds per hole and at least 9 feet away from each other.

4) Water your cucumbers every morning and evening 

5) Give 7-10 days for the germination process to take place and 2-3 months time you have a harvest of cucumbers.

How do you use a cucumber?

Cucumbers are very juicy and have a kind of fresh crunchy taste when being eaten. Cucumbers can be eaten at any time, some people have it with breakfast, some as a salad at brunch, lunch, or dinner. While some persons have it as a snack before bed. 

Some people enjoy it by just picking from the vine washing and consume, while others slice it up and sprinkle a little salt and enjoy.

Cucumbers also make cool refreshing juice or drink. Some enjoy it by itself, with a little ginger and or sugar. While some people just slice it up and place it into their plain drinking water. Cucumbers can be enjoyed every day in moderate portions as too much of any one thing, always has some side effects. 

Cucumbers can also be made into a great pickle that can be enjoyed at any time. Some people also use cucumber as part of their skin routine which I will talk about in upcoming features.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

 Hey guys Nericia here, I hope all is well with you. I am just writing to let you guys know a little bit more about Affiliate Marketing, what it is and some of the pros and cons of becoming an affiliate marketer. 

Now there are many affiliate marketing platforms that are available and you can sign up for any ones that you want to. So before we get into it, let me just tell you what affiliate marketing is. 

Affiliate Marketing Is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more persons for each visitor or customer brought by that person by their own marketing efforts. So basically if you are an affiliate, you earn when the product or products you advertise is purchased from the links provided by the business you have promoted.

There are many businesses that have an affiliate marketing program, which I will list some of later on in this feature. Some affiliate programs are very easy,  while some can be a bit more complicated. Let me elaborate. So for some companies, you can go on the website, scroll all the way to the bottom, and in the information section just search affiliates or affiliate programs. When you click it is normally a link that takes you to the sign-up page where you are asked a bunch of questions and for your email and then viola you get a link and you can start promoting. 

While there are some affiliate programs where you have to apply, you answer a bunch of questions, then there is a small review that takes a few hours or days, where the company reviews your social networks and see if you will be able to drive visitors to their website. Either way, once you become approved and start promoting there is a system that is set in place to see how many visitors you brought to the website and how many sales were made by the visitors that were brought by you. 

Some programs give a commission for the number of clicks while in most cases your visitor has to actually make a purchase for you to make a commission.

Affiliate marketing is by no means easy, and it helps if you are able to pay to get your links out through paid advertising. Not everyone can do that, though and that is fine, there are a bunch of other free ways that you can use. There is Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and Youtube all free platforms you can use, just to name a few and so many more. With affiliate marketing, you literally only need a laptop phone, or tablet and an internet connection and you are ready to go. You just get your links and start promoting and you are good to go. 

You don't have to worry about shipping, returns, packaging, or product sourcing, all of that is taken care of by the company, all you have to do is get your links out to the right audience and you will see yourself making profits from these sales. Some people make sales in their first week, or the first month, even the first day. I made my first sale after two months but that just shows that hard work pays off. All in all, it is a great job opportunity for stay-at-home moms, persons who go to school and want a passive income, this is something that can be done part-time or full-time. You are your own boss.  Hey guys Nericia here with another post under the feature, jamaica is beautiful. In a subsequent feature, we looked at some beaches and rivers that you must visit if you ever get the chance. In this feature, we will be talking about some of the foods that you must try when you go. Now food is a big part of Jamaican culture, we love our pepper and spices, and we definitely can't do without our herbs and seasonings. 

Some of our main spices are

Jerk seasonings, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Black pepper, Season to the bone, and pimento just to name a few.

Eskellion, thyme, tomatoes, Cho Cho, sweet pepper, scotch bonnet peppers...and more 

For the flavors that go with different foods, it's all in the seasoning. Most people like to season meats and seafood overnight so that all the seasoning can seep through and make the end result much better.

Jamaicans love curry, we practically curry almost every meat.

You have curried chicken, or beef, fish, saltfish, and lots more. I have even tried curried pork. Yes, pork can be curried as well.
